All About Locus

Countries of Locus

The Shorelands

A burgeoning country on the south shores of Locus, composed of a handful of small towns and cities newly united under a peace treaty. Their first trouble as a new nation? A pirate problem. While the country is fresh, the people are longstanding. Mostly populated by humans and orcs.

Baronies of the Ridge

The only civilization that survived Carrion’s army 300 years ago. Four powerful cities in the central mountains of Locus, united in their military strength and industry. An old, proud culture. Mostly humans but with growing dwarf and warforged populations.

Steele & Strongtop Industries

An overseas company’s colonies in the far north of Locus. What’s better than money and forward advancement? Largely home to giff and humans as well as a few dwarves, orcs, and warforged.

Blackwater Forest

A dangerous, largely uncharted forest along Locus’s west coast where unwanted or unsavory peoples can gather in anonymity. Home to humans, orcs, dragonborn, lizardfolk, and more.

Champaign Fields

Sprawling fields of grape vines on Locus’s east coast. Tended and made into wine by robotic gardeners and brewers. Near exclusively home to warforged.

The Animal Kingdom

A massive forest taking up most of northeast Locus. Almost wholly wild and unsettled. Home to many varied types of beastfolk as well as a few orcs.

People of Locus

Warforged have largely been made by The Gardner since their arrival with the Second event.

Dwarves are of the earth, awakened in the Seventh event. Often distinguished by rock or gemstones embedded into their skin.

Dragonborn were created by Lord Carrion after the Fifth event. Likely only around 50 living

Tabaxi, Satyr, Lizardfolk, and other Beastfolk are the original residents, coming with the continent with the First event.

Tieflings are very and largely unheard of, being exclusively born of the demon Bloodfeast following the Sixth event.

The Mainland

The whole rest of the planet.

This is not the focus of the campaign. There are a handful of elements that have the potential of mattering, but with the storm cutting Locus off from the mainland there will be very little interference. If your character is from the mainland, your backstory is pretty close to “anything goes.”

People of the Mainland

Humans are the native population of the mainland.

Elves arrived in the Fifth event but all Locus natives were wiped out by Lord Carrion. Now, they only reside on the mainland.

Orcs are seafaring warriors, sprung up in the gap between continents in the Fourth event.

Giff are colonists from another world, here for a fresh start.

Whatever Else goes. there’s lots of room for additional lore from the Mainland, work with me.

Ecliptic Exile Events

Every century a celestial event brings a new major player in the world and a major change in the landscape to Locus.

The Seventh brought the Great Storm that surrounds Locus, cutting it off from the rest of the world. With the storm, dwarves began awakening from the rock by Mt. Cane.

The Sixth brought the eruption of Mt. Cane and the destruction of a great kingdom. Heralded the arrival of the demon Bloodfeast.

The Fifth brought the flooding of Pepper Canyon, allowing elves to float up to the surface.

The Fourth split Locus from the mainland, freeing orcs from the gap between the continents.

The Third saw the appearance of the sky's second sun.

The Second left no trace but The Gardner and her warforged.

The First caused Locus to emerge from the ocean fully formed. With it came the beastfolk.
